With the West side announced and preparing for active duty, it’s time to announce their opponents for the 2013 All-Star game. Head coach and division leading bench boss of the Metro Orangemen Marcel Vieira was ready to combat Moniz pick for pick as the chess match took place.
With his veteran selection Marcel selected an all-time great. Known by the number on the back of his jersey 4x4, Toronto Thunder leader Tony Faria will lineup for the East side.
With his veteran selection in place Marcel then went the side of youth selecting with his top three picks Ricardo Pires (Metro Orangemen), Frankie Giustini (Brampton Express) and defencemen Chris Creador (Orangemen) and the youth movement had commenced.
Looking to secure the goaltenders in the draft David DiGironimo (Express) and Dan Giffin (Thunder), two team Canada alumni, will defend the East side goal and the explosive attack that will be mounted by team “Moniz”.
With Creador anchoring the defence Marcel then added Orangemen teammate Adam Carreria, Mississauga Hawks veteran Danny Conte, Thunder d-man Kal Kakish, North York Hitmen Joe Meleca, Dan Alonzi (Vaughan Red Wings) and speedster Marc Parravano (Express) to form a complete group of defenders that may be the total package any team could ask for.
Loading up on the back side of the floor the forwards on Vieira’s Fantasy team were completed by the following stand outs. The fearsome duo of Toronto Polar Bears Chris Monaghan and Jeff Wilson will line up once again together and put their offensive talent on display. Another pair of teammates in young scoring sensations from VRW Anthony Metallo and Sam Renda two more young studs that the Premier division houses will make their Premier All-Star debuts. Returning to the All-Star stage are teammates from the Thunder Marco Goncalves and Paul Duarte, two of the Premier forwards in the game. Speed and a veteran presence were filled out by JK Gill (Hawks), Anthony Novia (Hitmen), Glen Bradbury Jr. (Orangemen) and Express leader Mike Porter. A formidable lineup that may be the fastest All-Star team ever assembled.
The team selected was listed in random order. If Moniz thought he had the upper hand he better think again! The East side will represent their home clubs in their visiting jersey’s (dark uniforms).
What a game we will have on our hands as the East vs. West or “Team Vieira” vs. “Team Moniz” will go down as an all-time classic. Time is ticking down to January 26 and the epic climax where the top players in the Premier Division will clash head to head for the right to be called All-Star Day 2013 Champions.
