Rewarded for their excellent play and contributions to their team’s success the following individuals were named Premier Provincial All Stars for the 2011 season.
In goal leading his club to a fourth straight Provincial Championship the 2011 All-Star Goaltender is David DiGironimo from the Brampton Express. His outstanding play in both the semi-final series versus the Toronto Polar Bears and the finals versus the Toronto Thunder were a main reason the Express were victorious.
On Defence veteran James ‘Chicky’ Mentis once again proved why he is regarded as one of the top defence men in the country. His composure and determination kept the Express moving forward, not to mention he scored the winning goal in game three of the finals. Joining him on defence from the Toronto Thunder was Kal Kakish. A rugged in your face defender Kal was vital in the success the Thunder achieved in 2011 and was rewarded for his solid play in post season with an All-Star berth.
On the front line many individuals stood front and centre as virtually every player raised their game to the next level. The leading scorer of the post season Paul Duarte gained one of the coveted three spots. His offensive thrust kept the Thunder advancing through to the finals. Linemate Massimo Principe rebounding from a subpar regular season and was a man on a mission earning him All-Star status. Leading the Thunder from game to game Massimo regained his 2010 MVP form. The third and final forward All-Star spot went to Express Captain Matt Tremblett. With the Express down a game in the finals the Captain picked up the troops and carried them forward dominating both games two and three of the finals.
With so many other individuals raising their levels of play in the quest for the Provincial Championship this group of players can’t go unrecognized for their contributions. Brampton Express youth injection of Robitaille, Cousineau and Paul were instrumental in the run of to the Championship. The goaltending of both Dan Giffin (Thunder) and Gus Kalaitzis (Bears) was remarkable and both had great playoff runs. Defencemen Danny Pacheco (Thunder), John To (Bears) and Victor Azevado (Leafs) were standout performers in the post season at their position. Hannon and Kelly (Leafs), Monaghan, Soares and Wilson (Bears), Morrison Jr. (Express) Goncalves (Thunder) were all top contributor's throughout their teams run. Congratulations to all.
