OBHAThe Ontario Ball Hockey Association welcomed 38 teams to the 2nd Annual Winter Provincials to London from May 2-4. As accustomed to Championships the Northwest Toronto Ball Hockey League took home two of the four Champions and lost one in the finals.

In the B level of play we would send three teams to compete. Toronto Falcons, Toronto Titans and Vaughan Flames would all try their luck at the Championship. On Sunday there could only be one Champion and the Falcons laid claim to the Cup as they defeated the London Generals by the score of 6-3. Congratulations boys!

The reigning summer and winter Provincial Champions Falco Steelers represented our league along with the Venetian Lions. Both teams would reach the semi-final. Unfortunately they faced each other with the Steelers squeaking by with a 5-4 win. They would face Scarborough’s D12 team. The Champs are the Champs for a reason and the final was no contest as the Steelers rolled over D12 by the score of 9-5. Congratulations guys on back to back Winter Provincials Championships!

Fourteen of our teams would compete in the D Championships but only two would get through to the quarter-finals. The DPBHL’s Eagles would be eliminated in the QF round but the RCBHL’s Paragoons would reach the final with a 6-4 QF win over D12 and a 6-3 SF win over Kitchener Wolftown. They would face the Durham Dirty Shwas in the final. It wasn’t meant to be on this day as the Paragoons blow a 3-1 lead and lose in overtime 4-3. Congratulations nonetheless.

Another successful Provincial Championships for our banner of leagues. We are ‘The League of Champions!”
