CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK CONCLUDES

bhlboxEach day as the "Cup" is awarded we will recognize all our 2014 Summer Playoff Champions. All our playoff champions will compete for `Orange Ball` supremacy in August at the 2014 Ontario Ball Hockey Association`s Provincial Championships.

The last night of the 2014 Summer league was a memorable one. We saluted our good friend Bobby Mentis with an emotional ceremony with over 300 people in attendance. Thanks to every single one of you who has made sacrifices and supported the Northwest Toronto Ball Hockey Leagues and its affiliates. You all need to be applauded.

Monday, August 18 - PREMIER - Downsview Arena
The North York Hitmen made it back to back Championships as they would defeat the Brampton Express 2-1 in game 3. The Hitmen would avenge a game one ot loss and followed it up with two one goal wins. Michael Battaglia was fantastic all playoff and was named Playoff MVP.

Thursday, August 14 - WOODBRIDGE TIER 4- Woodbridge Memorial Arena
The veterans versus the youngsters, Saints versus Rage, certainly a rivalry as they have faced each other the last three summer seasons in the playoffs. The Rage, who lost to the Saints in the finals last year, extracted a measure of revenge as they win game 3 in overtime 4-3. Peter Hermenegildo is the hero with the ot winner and with that claimed the Playoff MVP honours. 

Thursday, August 14 - TORONTO TIER 3 - Woodbridge Memorial Arena
The Garage Guys finally dispose of their nemesis the Vaughan Flames in a dandy of a series. Garage Guys would squeeze out a 1-0 win in game one only to get shutout themselves in game two by the score of 2-0. Of course game three would be a slugfest and the Playoff MVP rose to the occasion as Adam Perri would score the winner in overtime on a penalty shot.  

Thursday, August 14 - BRAMPTON TIER 4C - Chris Gibson CC
The Strikers defeat the Brampton Ducks 1-0 in game one and 2-1 in game two to claim the Championship. Strikers Mark Cavalcante would bulge the twine 6 times in 4 games to earn the Playoff MVP award.

Thursday, August 14 - BRAMPTON TIER 4B - Chris Gibson CC
The veteran Brampton Stars would make a return trip to the OBHA Provincials as they defeat the Brampton Blues in two straight games 2-1 in overtime in game 2 to hoist the Cup. They won game one 5-3. Playoff MVP would go to super sniper Joseph Gatti who registered 9 points in 4 games.

Thursday, August 14 - BRAMPTON TIER 4A - Chris Gibson CC
The Brampton Chiefs claimed the Tier 4A Championship and booked their ticket to London as they upend the Thunderhawks 4-1 and 2-1 respectively. Chief's leader throughout the playoffs was Reuben Vaderkloet and he is rewarded with the Playoff MVP award.

Thursday, August 14 - BRAMPTON TIER 3 - Chris Gibson CC
The hottest team in Brampton claimed the Tier 3 Championship. The Brampton Hitmen went undefeated for the last nine games of the regular season, won the Niagara Challenge Cup and then won four straight in the playoffs. They defeat the Warriors in two tough games 3-2 both ending in overtime. Jason Pereira, who contributed 3 goals and 3 assists in the 4 games, was named Playoff MVP  

Wednesday, August 13 - MISSISSAUGA TIER 4A MON/WED - Huron Park CC
The Gotham City Dark Knights would avenge a game one defeat 3-2 by winning game two 4-2 and last night 4-3 in a barn burner against the Stallions. The Knights only surrendered three games all season and two at the hands of the Stallions. Playoff MVP will go to Marc Smith as he finished the playoffs with 7 points in 5 games.

Wednesday, August 13 - MISSISSAUGA TIER 3 - Huron Park CC
The Mississauga Tier 3 Championship came down to the wire as the Stars and Screaming Eagles went toe to toe. Game one went the way of the Eagles as they won 6-5 in OT. The Stars battled back in game two and squeezed out a 4-3 victory. The deciding game would need overtime and just under five minutes in the Stars would claim the Championship 2-1. Thomas Stajan would win Playoff MVP honours tallying 9 points in 4 games.

Tuesday, August 12 - DOWNSVIEW PARK TIER 4A WEEKDAY - The Hangar
A team to be reckoned with in the future is the Jabroni's. They had a spectacular season with only one blemish on the schedule. But had to battle in the playoffs and face the veteran laden North York Islanders in the finals. Jabroni's came away with 4-2 and 4-3 wins. Ryan Tremmel was named Playoff MVP with 5 goals in 2 assists in 4 games.  

Tuesday, August 12 - DOWNSVIEW PARK TIER 4A SUNDAY - The Hangar
The Toronto Rage completed the season with a near perfect record. They were the class of the division finishing the regular season in first place with a 12-2 and going 4-0 in the post season. They had two hard fought victories over the Toronto Kings in the final winning game one 7-5 and completing the sweep last night 5-4. Workhorse defenseman James Cairns was named Playoff MVP.

Monday, August 11 - MISSISSAUGA TIER 4B TUE/THU - Huron Park CC
The Heat claimed the Mississauga Tier 4B Championship as they defeat the Mighty Ducks in two straight games 4-0 and 2-0. They completed a near perfect season finishing 13-0-2 and four straight playoff wins. Playoff MVP was Rob Patava.

Monday, August 11 - MISSISSAUGA TIER 4A TUE/THU - Huron Park CC
The Cheesemen are the Mississauga Tier 4A Champions as they defeat the Night Prowlers. In two tight checking games the Cheesemen won game one on Thursday night 4-2 and completed the sweep last night with a 3-1 victory. Brent Spivak was named Playoff MVP as he registered 11 points in 4 games.

Tuesday, July 29 - MASTERS - Woodbridge Memorial Arena
The Falco Steelers claim back to back Summer Championships with 4-0 win over the Toronto Jaguars in game 3. Jason DeRose was named Playoff MVP as `Mr. Everything` was a menace on the floor and used in every critical situation. Congratulations to manager Rocco Mongelli and the entire team on the Championship.

Sunday, July 20 - GREATER TORONTO TIER II - The Hangar
Our first Championship was handed out last Sunday as the Falcons defeated The Big Bastone 3-1 in a deciding game 3 to capture the Greater Toronto Tier II Championship. Rob Angiolella would claim Playoff MVP honours with 13 points in 9 games. Congratulations to coach Vito Lagani and the entire team on the Championship.
