It is finally time to reveal the final 44 players to represent their teams for All-Star Day 2015. The real gems of the game come from the Tier 4 divisions. Most people would be amazed at the caliber of play at this level in the DPBHL. Yes, there are a lot of recreational players. They all have to start somewhere. But the talent is unlimited. We are proud to introduce this level at our All-Star Day. It was long overdue. Without further ado here are the players. Congratulations boys!
We start with our Sunday divisions from the fall which were comprised of 10 teams. The coaching staff comes the way of the big little man Joseph Ferretti of the Barons. Joseph has been involved in this great sport for many years and at one time ran the GTA youth divisions. His assistant will be Ishak Bhayat of the Toronto Snipers. Ishak is in the process of building a youthful team and hopes for big things in the near future.
The playoff champions Toronto Reign will send 3 players to the big game. Goaltender Daniel Smith, defenseman Brian Creador and forward Jazz Singh will bring stability in all three sections of the game. The playoff finalist Toronto Kings will be represented by Philip Alves, Anthony Ricci and Daniel Ascenzi. Lots of offense will come from this trio. Netminder Danny Vieira of Legion XIII has been selected. His teammates Jeff Bravo and Kevin Vieira will bring veteran leadership to the All-Star team. The Toronto Snipers will bring youth and speed as Moe Mangra and the Khan brothers Taimoor and Muez have been added. The Malton Mavericks, who won the 'B' Champions, will be represented by Hamzah Jogiat and Aasim Patel. Ferretti will get to coach two of his teammates. Chris Santos and Jordan Bumeliani will bring more offense to an already explosive team. Toronto Rage will bring Mike Rose who scored an astonishing 20 goals in 10 games. His teammate Suleman Chichwadia will join the Dmen. Billy Giakatis and Matthew Depersiis will be representing their Bayview Blackhawks team. And rounding out the team will be Vince D'Elia and Marco Severino from the Red Devils.
The bench bosses for the weekday team will be comprised Paul Palermo of The Loose Sticks and Peter Qaqish of the Dirty Sting. Paul plays regularly with The Big Bastone in the Tier 2 loop and also represented Team Italia at the 2013 World Championships. He will bring a tone of experience with him. Peter has been playing in the DPBHL since inception and will bring his leadership to the table.
The fall weekday divisions had 8 teams participate and the Champions were the Toronto Spartans. They will bring 5 players to the game. Steven Doughty will backstop this team. He will be joined by his captain Geremy Capone, Benny Zappia, Mike Morra and Michael Ferreira. Representing The Loose Sticks will be Sam Rietta, Daniel Mazzuca and Mike Cianni. They will supply lots of offense. The Eagles will add the veteran leadership as Carlos Medeiros, Eric Rodrigues and Joey Silva have made the team. The Rexdale Renagades will send size to the game with Marc Lefebvre and Andrew Novello. The 'B' Champions Dirty Sting will be represented by veteran goaltender Colin Hartill, defenseman Chris Stojanovski and forwards Gary Medeiros and Carlo Moushikh. The Daluz brother Gary and Carlos along with division leading scorer Ryan Hoeke will be wearing their Toronto Shield jerseys with pride. And last but not least the Misfits will be sending two dmen to the game. Joey Squillace and Chris Mele will being lots of offense from the backend.
