Premier BHLWeek 8 has a total of 25 goals scored in Tier 1 action. So much for the tight defence on this night. Leading the way were the Vaughan Red Wings who find themselves back on the winning side with a 6-2 victory over the Steelers. The Thunder continues their hot play with a convincing 5-2 victory off the well rested St. Mike’s club who were coming in off a bye week. The Jets find a huge W with two late goals versus the Polar Bears for a 5-2 victory. In the late night game the high flying Orangemen continue to streak as they clip the wings of the division leaders the Mississauga Hawks.

Rugged forward Daniel Freitas has become an integral cog in the Toronto Thunder lineup. Every team needs a pot stirrer and Daniel does his job to the best of its intended purposes. Arguably the league’s best player at getting under the opponents skin Daniel’s usually on many teams radars. On this night he lets his stick do the talking as he nets a pair in a 5-2 Thunder victory over St. Michael’s. Massimo Principe chips in with three points of his own as the Thunder cruises. St. Mike’s Captain Will Trougakos, with eleven seconds left, pulls one goal back late but it’s not enough as the Thunder take over first place.

A battle between the Toronto Polar Bears and Vaughan Jets was crucial as both teams are battling to jump into the race to secure a post season spot. Its only seven games in but head to head tie breakers may be crucial come January. The Bears falling once again to the numbers game field less than two lines. The lack of legs would prove costly as the Jets would take over the game late. Sandro Mignosa and Bobby Dourmissis lead the way offensively as they combine for six points in the 5-2 victory. Full marks to the Bears who keep the game tied with four minutes left only to see it slip away.

Looking to get out of a three game winless streak the Vaughan Red Wings take their frustration out on the Thornhill Steelers. A 6-2 victory and Pino Panza breaths a sigh of relief. A sight you will very rarely see Paul Zarnett allowing six goals in a single game. Young superstar Sam Renda scores a highlight reel goal as he splits the defence controls the ball and lifts a back hander over Zarnett’s shoulder. Renda with three points on the night and Mike Polesel with a pair of goals end the drought. The Steelers continue to struggle for victories.

The twosomes of Ricardo Pires and newly signed Randy Kelly have begun to create instant chemistry. Ricardo has been on the cusp of becoming the next superstar of this sport and the addition of Kelly may be the deciding factor if he will reach that coveted status. The two are involved in both goals as a tight fought affair versus the Mississauga Hawks ends 2-1 Metro Orangemen as Adam Carreria buries the winner with a mere: 32 seconds left. As many spectators were anticipating a shootout Adam had other ideas as his low shot beats DiNardo in the Hawks goal. A huge confidence builder for the young Orangemen as they come away with maximum points.
