2017 obhf provincial recap

We are known as the "League of Champions" for good reason!

We took home FIVE Gold medals and three Silver's this past summer. It truly was a remarkable year! Let's Congratulate all our winners.

Alliston (July 21-23)
Men's A, Men's Masters A 40+, Men's Masters B 40+
Women's A, Women's B, Women's Masters

We had seven entries in Alliston. Metro Orangemen, Niagara War Pigs and Vaughan Red Wings in the Men's A. Barrie Flyers, Toronto Capitals and Tshirtgang Titans in the Men's Masters A 40+. And the Downsview Penguins in the Women's B.

The Metro Orangemen would go undefeated in the round robin and would defeat the Niagara War Pigs 5-2 in the final to claim the Men's A Provincial Championship and book their ticket to the 2018 CBHA Men's A National Championships.

In the Men's Masters 40+ the Barrie Flyers would defeat their division rival Toronto Capitals 4-2 to capture Gold. They have also advance to the 2018 CBHA Nationals in the Masters division.

In a surprise the Downsview Penguins would need OT to win their semi-final game 2-1 over New Tecumseth then a late marker would give the Penguins the Gold with a 3-2 win over the Ottawa Sonics.

Windsor (Aug 18-20)
Men's B and Men's D

Windsor were gracious hosts in one of the best tournaments in recent memories. We sent two teams to the B Provincials, The Big Bastone and Hollywood Express. On the D side we also sent two teams, Hard As Puck and the Autobots.

Hollywood Express would upset The Big Bastone in the semi-finals 2-1 in OT. They had a massive task trying to defeat the hometown Rosati team. It would not come to fruition as take home Silver with a 7-3 loss.

The D Provincials saw our Mississauga entry go on a Cinderella kinda run and take home the GOLD with a 2-1 win over the Windsor Misfits.

Burlington (Aug 25-27)
Men's C and Men's Masters 31+

On a beautiful, hot and sticky weekend two masters teams and five C teams tried their luck at a Provincial Gold. But when Sunday evening hit the Falco Steelers reclaimed the Men's Masters Gold Medal with a 5-4 win over Toronto D12.
