York Express are the 2018 OBHF Masters 'A' Champions!

It was a fantastic finish to Father's Day weekend for the York Express!

GOLD is where it belongs! The Northwest Toronto BHL's York Express have claimed the 2018 Ontario Ball Hockey Federation's Masters 'A' Championship with a come from behind 3-2 victory over the Halton Leafs.

The weekend started with a comfortably with a 6-2 win over last years Champions Barrie Flyers. On Saturday the boys in red, black and white would lose a tightly contested game 3-2 to the Halton Leafs. This would mean a fourth overall seed and a date with division rival Tshirtgang Titans. The Express would breeze by the Titans by the score of 4-0.

The semi-final on Sunday afternoon was set. The Express would have to face one of the tournament favourites Ottawa Capitals who finished first overall and earned a bye to the semi's. This game would be decided in OT and Jes Calabro would be the hero making the final 2-1! We were hoping for an all Northwest final but the Toronto Leafs would lose 3-0 to the Halton Leafs in the other semi-final game.

A rematch was set for the final. It was a high energy game as teams exchanged chances. It was the Leafs who would jump out to a 2-0 lead. But the Express would grind away and tie the game. With five minutes remaining Chris Sebastian would score the GWG. It was a frantic last five minutes but the boys would survive!

Congratulations to Lenny Taus, Paul Mauti and the entire team on the Championship! Well deserved gentlemen!
