Another Successful All Star Day In The Books

#ASD19 has passed but what a memorable day it was!

All Star Day is our signature event of the year. Hundreds of players and spectators descended to The Hangar. This year was special for us as we included the women! And what a show they put on. Downsview versus Scarborough for all the bragging rights! Shannon Toth and Frances Ho would line up for the ceremonial faceoff.

It was an All Star Game but you could feel the intensity from the opening whistle. Scarborough would jump out early with two quick goals from April Jarvis and Angie Ganter. That seemed to spark Downsview as they would have the edge in play and finally capitalized as Sara Davidson would send Downsview to the break down 2-1. The second was fast and furious. Chana Steinberg (Downsview) and Susan Brown (Scarborough) were both superb making many spectacular saves. Kristen Stellino would help Scarborough regain the two goal lead. The pressure was on for the last ten minutes. Michelle Kinsella would make the score 3-2 with five minutes left. After numerous attempts Downsview could not find the equalizer. Final score: Scarborough 3 Downsview 2. For their efforts April Jarvis and Sara Davidson would take home Game MVP honours. We would like to thank all the players for a memorable game and all our coaches Cindy Horton and Beth  Brotherstone.

Up next were the Elite men. This was a true definition of an all star game. Many great plays, saves and tricks exactly what the fans are here to see. John Ventulo's Black squad lead from beginning to end but Vito Lagani's Red team put on a fight. We had 11 different goal scores as Elite Black came away with a 9-6 victory. Tony Monteiro potted 3, Adam Bevilacqua 2 and singles to Jesse Calabro, Vince D'Elia, Chris Morrison Jr and Daniel Ponce. Paul Duarte would add 4 helpers. For Elite Red Marcel Mallais would hit the net twice and added 3 assists. Frank D'Ambrosio, Dylan Garcia, Andrew Sisi and Chris Vagenas would all score. Tony Monteiro and Marcel Mallais would take home Game MVP's. Thanks to John, Vito and Pat Ventullo for running the benches and all the players for your support!

Our New Generation of Stars closed out the afternoon and we are in good hands as these stars put on a show. Our league's talent looks exceptional for the future. New Generation Navy was lead by Steven Longo who scored 3 times en route to a 5-3 victory over New Generation White. Also scoring for Navy was Ryan Morden and Kaleeb Simms. Replying for White was Blaze Brooks with 2 and Nicholas Mauti. Longo and Brooks were your Game MVP's. We would like to thank all the players for helping make this a memorable day and the men behind the benches Graciano Daponte, Zahi Syriani, Rick Ventresca and Johnny Lucca for their time and effort.

At this time we would like to thank all the sponsors and volunteers for their tireless efforts putting on this show! We couldn't do it without you. Stay tuned for all the days pictures.
