It was a series to hard to predict. Both teams evenly matched. Game one was a high octane seesaw affair and the Express came away with a 5-4 OT victory. Daniel Setacci bulged the twine 1:04 into the extra frame. Shawn Hannon, who set up the game winner, led the way with a goal and two helpers. Karter Donnelly was the best Falcon player on this day getting in on all four of their goals with a goal and three assists.
One week later the teams once again descended to The Hangar for game two. The place was abuzz. The Falcons came out firing and scored the first goal of the game. But two minutes later the Express would tie it and never look back. OT Omoregie with two, Frank D'Ambrosio and Yusuf Ahmed would all score in the last six minutes of the first. The teams went to break with the Express leading 5-1. They continued the barrage early in the second with three goals in the first four minutes and Express would take the game 8-3 and the series two games to none. JK Gill would end the night with five points.
Shawn Hannon was spectacular during the playoffs scoring one goal and adding eight helpers and went home with Playoff MVP honours. We would like to congratulate GM John Ventullo and entire team on a well deserved Championship!
