Toronto Leafs are OBHF 'C' Provincial Champions!

This MASTERS team went a perfect 6 and 0 to claim the Cup!

Toronto Leafs had a remarkable season only conceding one point in twenty-four games. The Leafs were our Vaughan Masters Champions finishing the regular season 13-0-1 and sweeping through the playoffs with a 4-0 record. The men in blue and white were offered a 'C' provincial spot and gladly accepted the invitation to Mississauga August 23-25. Our Mississauga league were hosts to eighteen teams as they crowed a new 'C' Champion.

The Leafs started the tournament on Friday night against a young and hungry Withrow Park Knights team. The Knights would take the lead 1-0 but this veteran squad with bounce back with two goals and take game one 2-1. On Saturday the boys would defeat Scarborough Team Sleazy 4-2 and Mississauga Milano's Express 5-1 good enough for second overall.

The Leafs would get a real test in the quarter-finals as the Kitchener Fury will give them all they could handle. But our boys would prevail 2-1. That set up a rematch with Team Sleazy. Different game but same result as the Leafs would take this semi-final 4-2.

Awaiting them in the final were the Toronto Monsters from our Downsview Park division. The Monsters started their tournament with a loss but rattled off four straight wins and defeating our Vaughan Tier 3 Champs Garage Guys 3-0 in the semi-final.

It was an all ballhockeyleagues.com final! Carmen Corbasson arena was lit! A packed house saw a fantastic final! A back and forth affair. It was a beautiful sight! In the end the Leafs would hold on for a 3-1 win. The veterans celebrated through the night as only vets could do. These guys are like a fine wine only getting better with age.

Congratulations to GM Jim Tabas and the entire team on a fantastic undefeated season! They are off to the CBHA National Championship in Saskatoon next July!
